My time at MTEC SmartZone included a wide range of creative projects—from logo design and event photography to branding visuals for tech startups and community outreach campaigns. Below are a few examples of graphics and visuals I developed during my time with MTEC.

One of my favorite side projects started with a comment from our CEO, who mentioned disliking the outdated video displays in our lobby—screens viewed daily by clients, Michigan Tech staff, and visiting state officials.

While the old footage had historical value, it no longer reflected the energy or beauty of our region. I decided to refresh it by curating aerial footage I’d captured over the years, editing it into a simple, visually engaging two- to three-minute looping video.

The result? A display that’s now liked among visitors, staff, and community members—showcasing the stunning Keweenaw Peninsula we’re proud to call home.

The intro is the best part—a sea kayaker pushing through waves and charging toward the MTEC logo, a visual metaphor for the determination and drive our clients and business owners embody.
